Why the Wrangler Unlimited Is the Envy of All Other SUVs
The Jeep Wrangler is a vehicle that will go almost anywhere, and it can do almost anything. The Wrangler comes in the two-door model that seats four passengers, and the four-door Unlimited with room for five passengers. Each of these body styles is also available in three different trims. Here is why the Wrangler Unlimited is the envy of all other SUVs.
The Wrangler Unlimited comes in three different base trims with additional features available as options. The Sport trim level comes with 16-inch steel wheels and combination on and off-road tires. This also comes with tow hooks, removable doors, and a windshield that folds down. The Sahara trim adds power windows and locks, and a security alarm along with automatic LED headlights and LED fog lights. The Unlimited Sahara adds tubular side steps and grab handles to help the rear passengers up into the vehicle. The Unlimited Rubicon adds many off-road features.
All of the Wrangler Unlimited models come with a 3.6-liter V6. This powerful engine produces 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Four-wheel drive is standard no matter which trim or body style you choose, and it comes with high and low-range gearing. You’ll get a six-speed manual transmission complete with hill-start assist, but you can opt for a five-speed automatic with both hill-start assist and hill descent control.
The Wrangler Unlimited is heavier than the regular Wrangler, but it will still get up to 60 miles per hour in just 8.1 seconds. You can expect to see about 18 miles per gallon combined in the Unlimited which is about the same as the regular Wrangler. The Unlimited has more towing power though and will handle about 3,500 pounds.
No other vehicle can match the Wrangler when it comes to off-road capabilities. It has a ground clearance that ranges from 8.3 inches to 10 inches and a wide variety of accessories to create a vehicle that performs even better on rough terrain. Add the Cold Weather Package for 17-inch BF Goodrich All-Terrain TA KO2 tires, and heated seat, or you can add underbody skid plates and rigid front and rear axles that come with locking differentials to make sure your Jeep takes you up and over and surface you put in front of it.
Even though the Wrangler Unlimited is a utility vehicle, you don’t have to give up interior technology. They all come with a nine-speaker Alpine sound system, and if you add the Connectivity Group, you’ll get Bluetooth connectivity for your phone along with a trip computer and an upgraded Uconnect system that comes with a USB port and 28GB of storage space for your music files. The Connectivity Group features also include a navigation system and a media player interface.
Other SUVs have a lot of reasons to envy the 2017 Wrangler Unlimited. It has enough room for drivers to bring their friends, and the off-road capabilities to take them on almost any kind of adventure they are willing to take on.
