4 Reasons to Go for an Adventure in the 2017 Dodge Journey

The Dodge Journey is a fun crossover SUV with three rows of seats and plenty of cargo space. For 2017, the Journey received a new top end trim, and it comes with a powerful V6 engine. If you want to pack up the family and head out on an adventure, the Journey is an affordable choice for a vehicle. Here are some reasons why you want to go for an adventure in the 2017 Dodge Journey.

The Engine

There are two engine choices with the Journey. The SE, SXT, Crossroad, and Crossroad Plus come standard with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that will get you 173 horsepower and 166 pound-feet of torque. The GT comes standard with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 283 horsepower ad 260 pound-feet of torque. This larger engine is also available as an option on the lower trims, and it comes standard with all-wheel drive unless you choose the GT. This trim comes with the option for AWD or FWD.

The Journey has many standard safety features, so you know your family is safe on the road. Traction and stability control are standard along with anti-lock brakes and active front head restraints. You’ll also get side curtain airbags, a knee airbag for the driver, and front side airbags. You can add a rearview camera and rear parking sensors as options. The Journey performed well in government crash tests and received a top score of Good from the IIHS in many of their crash tests.

Interior Features

Inside the cabin of the Journey, you’ll find comfort and convenience for your adventure. There is a manual dual-zone climate control and a driver’s seat with a height adjustment feature. The second-row seats recline and slide back and forth so the kids can get comfortable on long rides, and if you add the Flexible Seating Package, you get a 50/50 split third-row seat along with tri-zone climate control. Bump up to the Crossroad Plus for leather upholstery with mesh inserts, and a power adjustable driver’s seat. The passenger seat in this model also folds flat and has a hidden storage bin underneath.

The Journey comes with some of the latest technology, and you can add even more. The base model has a 4.3-inch touchscreen along with a USB port and an auxiliary audio jack. If you bump up to the higher trims, you’ll get Bluetooth connectivity and satellite radio. The Crossroad Plus trim gets you an 8.4-inch touchscreen display, a DVD player in the dash, and a slot for an SD card so you can bring your own media files. Most of the features that come standard on the higher trims are also available as options on the lower trims.

The 2017 Dodge Journey has a lot to offer drivers and their families when they want to take off on an adventure. There is plenty of space and seating, and the technology to keep the kids entertained on a long drive. You’ll also have the choice of engines including a powerful V6.
