Relax in the Great Outdoors | The Best Parks in Monroe
The multitude of beautiful parks that encompass the city of Monroe make spending time enjoying the outdoors easy. Whether you prefer relaxing by the water, or finding your inner peace in the middle of some trees, there is a park in the local area for you.
Skykomish River Park
One of the largest parks in Monroe, Skykomish River Park, spans across a total of 32 acres. This park has something for all ages. Visitors have the choice between playing on one of the four baseball fields or on one of the three soccer fields. In addition to places to play sports, there are picnic shelters available, a one-mile perimeter trail for walking and a large children’s play area complete with swings, slides, and monkey bars.
Al Borlin Park
The Al Borlin Park is a 90-acre, naturally occurring park on a peninsula that was formed by the adjacent Skykomish River and Woods Creek. This thickly wooded area is home to a network of soft-surface trails that extend 1.2 miles, making it a popular place for hiking. However, hiking is not the only thing to do. The park also features barbecues, picnic tables, a beach area, and a river frontage, effectively giving people the best of both worlds and providing a place to fish and enjoy the water as well.
Currie View
A somewhat smaller park available to locals is Currie View. Here you can enjoy playing a little one-on-one basketball, or maybe even make it a team event. As with the other parks, there are picnic tables available if you’d like to have a peaceful meal while also enjoying the fresh air. Younger kids can also spend their time swinging on the swings or playing on the various other toys located on the playground.
