Starting Your Day off Right: Places to Grab a Cup of Joe in Monroe
Most people start the day off with a little caffeine to shake the sleep out of their eyes and the drowsiness from their mind. Monroe is home to an array of local coffee shops that make this experience a bit more personal than what you would get at your typical chain drive-thru.
Paesano’s Coffee
Paesano’s Coffee is located on Fryelands Boulevard, and their coffee is hand selected from around the globe. Each year they try hundreds of different samples, searching for the perfect product to serve their customers. Their medium sized establishment allows them to provide high quality service that a smaller roaster couldn’t afford, while maintaining a personal connection (the name Paesanos quite literally means “a friend from the same village”) with their customers that is unattainable for larger coffee establishments. It’s the perfect place to grab a cappuccino, espresso, latte, or just a regular coffee, while hanging out with some friends.
Peet’s Coffee & Tea
Peet’s Coffee & Tea is a bit of a bigger roaster, with multiple locations around the western coast. The original cafe was a small coffee store on a corner in Berkeley, California. Alfred Peet, who was born in Holland, was the founder of the establishment. His foreign upbringing sent him on a search for the good quality coffee that America seemed to be lacking. The quality remains uncompromised as Peet’s Coffee & Tea only serve artisan roasted coffee and espresso crafted by certified baristas. As the name suggests, in addition to coffee, Peet’s has tea on their menu — over 30 different varieties of loose-leaf and bagged tea — making the selection process hard but guaranteeing that there is an option for everyone.
