Is the Grand Wagoneer Good for Winter Driving?

Winter driving can be a real pain, but having the right vehicle to handle the winter conditions can certainly help. Which vehicle is that? Well that’s the difficulty, isn’t it? It isn’t easy to find the right car to handle winter driving conditions.

If you ask us, however, we would say that the Grand Wagoneer is an excellent option. Of course, we recognize that we may have some bias. After all, here at Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Monroe, we sell brand-new Grand Wagoneer models on our dealership lot. But, there is more than just the opinions of our sales and service people to support the Grand Wagoneer being a top option for winter driving.

The New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA) thinks so too. And you know how New England can be, with their brutal Nor’easter storms. They know more than a thing or two about winter driving, and they too named the Grand Wagoneer the Official Winter SUV of the Year. They also named it the Best Premium Full-size SUV, but that is a whole different discussion.

Why the Grand Wagoneer Drives So Well in the Winter

So, why does the Grand Wagoneer handle winter driving conditions so well? It starts with the Quadra-Drive II 4×4 system. The 4WD system has a rear electronic limited slip differential and automatically directs power to where it is needed most.

But an amazing 4×4 system isn’t all the Grand Wagoneer has. It also has the Selec-Terrain Traction Management System. This allows you to select the driving conditions you are encountering so that the vehicle can optimize shift patterns, engine performance and torque distribution to best suit your driving needs. Of course, Snow is one of the available selections. There is also Rock, Sand/Mud, Sport and Auto.

We also have to mention the Quadra-Lift Air Suspension. This is a feature designed to boost ground clearance when going over rough terrain. Of course, that is useful on offroad trail, but it can also be useful on snowdrifted roads.

Of course, the Hurricane Twin-Turbo engine has a lot to do with the Grand Wagoneer’s success with winter driving thanks to its 500 lb-ft of torque and 510 horsepower. If you’d like to experience that kind of power for yourself, just schedule a test drive here at Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Monroe. We would be happy to help you get behind the wheel and explore all that the Grand Wagoneer has to offer in all four seasons.
