What to Expect From the 2023 Dodge Hornet

It’s not often we get to share news quite this exciting. After all, it’s not often that a brand new Dodge model is born. Today, however, we have the honor of sharing with you the all-new 2023 Dodge Hornet.

The Dodge brand of recent years has become well-known for sporty performance. The Dodge Challenger and Charger are the obvious power couple, but the Durango SUV has carved out a reputation for delivering performance thrills as well. So, with that in mind, can you expect the same from the 2023 Dodge Hornet?

What Kind of Model Is the Dodge Hornet?

To start with, the Hornet was designed by Dodge to be the “gateway” for driving enthusiasts to enter into the world of Dodge power. If you need something more practical than the Challenger or Charger, but are also looking for something more compact than the Durango, the Hornet will be the perfect option.

The 2023 Hornet is sized as a compact utility vehicle, which is very much similar to a subcompact crossover. It combines the excitement of sport sedan driving dynamics with the utility of a crossover model.

Dodge Hornet Performance Specs

Despite just arriving on the market, the Dodge Hornet already delivers best-in-class performance thanks to the two trim levels labeled the Hornet R/T and Hornet GT.

The R/T is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, and in addition to its 30 miles of all-electric range, the powertrain manages to deliver an impressive 285 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. The Hornet GT is focused on pure gasoline engine power, equipped with a Hurricane4 turbocharged engine that manages to crank out 265 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

Adding even more power is the Hornet’s class-exclusive PowerShot feature. The on-demand amenity allows you to request an additional 25 horsepower for a short time on Hornet R/T models. In fact, the Hornet features a number of class-exclusive and best-in-class features, so let’s check some of them out:

• Best-in-class front and rear fully independent suspension

When Will the Dodge Hornet Be Available?

Pre-orders have already opened up for the 2023 Dodge Hornet, but it may be a little while longer before we actually start seeing the Hornet up close and in person. The fully gas-powered Hornet GT is expected to arrive in showrooms in December 2022, while the electrically-powered Hornet R/T will come later in the spring of 2023. Though no exact pricing has been made available, the Dodge Hornet should come priced with a starting MSRP below $30,000.
