The Dodge Hornet Gets a New R/T Trim for 2024

What’s New With the 2024 Dodge Hornet?

One of the fastest growing segments in the auto industry is the compact utility vehicle segment, or CUV. These are small crossovers that offer the versatility of larger SUVs but with more nimble driving dynamics and the efficiency of a sedan. Despite the segment’s popularity, however, the segment has become a bit stale. That is until Dodge came out with the Hornet.

The Dodge Hornet is a historic model, as it is Dodge’s first electrified performance vehicle. It also adds a unique electrified option to the CUV segment. Now, for the 2024 model year, it’s receiving the R/T performance model, along with a whole list of new benefits.

New Dodge Hornet Features

Like we said, the R/T model is the major new addition to the Hornet for 2024. It delivers up to 288 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful CUV available.

Since the Hornet is a plug-in hybrid, it can operate both in hybrid mode, where the vehicle utilized gasoline and electric power from the battery, or full electric mode. In fully electric mode, the R/T model has a maximum range of 32 miles. This is a great option for those days when you only need to drive to work and back. In hybrid mode, the model has 77 MPGe and a range of 360 miles. To put that in perspective, that’s enough range to get from Seattle to Portland and back without the need to charge up.

A really exciting addition added to the Hornet through the R/T model is the PowerShot feature. If the engine power we mentioned above isn’t enough for you, then the PowerShot feature can boost it to 30 horsepower. This gives the Hornet a 0-60 mph time of just 5.6 seconds. Another feature that changes the driving dynamics of the vehicle is Sport Mode and three hybrid driving modes that can alter the way you save fuel, with regular hybrid, fully electric and an E-Save mode available.

Other features added to the Hornet for 2024 include a hands-free tailgate on select trim levels and a Park Assist System. The latter is included with the optional Tech Pack and can be used for both perpendicular and parallel parking.
