Dodge and Ram Ranking in J.D. Power APEAL Study

The J.D. Power APEAL Study is one of the best ways to get a sense of which vehicles and which auto brands stand out from the pack. This is because the study uses feedback from actual vehicle owners to determine its rankings.

If you’re not familiar with the study, APEAL stands for Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout. The study ranks mass-market vehicles and brands each year based on feedback from owners during their first three months of ownership.

A common theme over the past few years has been the success of Dodge and Ram in the J.D. Power APEAL Study. With that in mind, let’s take a look at how the brands ranked for 2023.

2023 J.D. Power APEAL Rankings

For 2023, both Dodge and Ram impressed with their rankings. Dodge, in particular, had high expectations, as the brand had already gone three years in a row taking the first place spot in the APEAL Study. Now, that can be considered four years in a row, as Dodge took home first place for brands in 2023.

Ram wasn’t far behind. The truck brand came in second place, marking the fifth year in a row that both Ram and Dodge claimed the two top spots.

Of course, when you’re shopping for a new car, you’re not just considering brands. You want to think about specific models too. Well, Dodge and Ram had a place in the vehicle rankings as well.

The 2023 Dodge Challenge was named the top midsize sporty car in the most recent study. Though Ram didn’t quite claim the number one spot, the 2023 Ram 1500 did finish second in the large light-duty pickup segment.

The last couple of years have marked a turning point for both Dodge and Ram, as the brands move into a future of electric mobility. Despite all the changes that we’ve seen, along with new models like the Hornet CUV, these brands still remain at the very top, as proven by the J.D. Power APEAL Study. Not only are Dodge and Ram leaders in auto markets of the past, but they are also clearly paving the way for the auto industry of the future.
